The majority of my Exchange users are all on Windows 7 and have no issues (at least using Outlook.) but a subset of the executives are ardent Mac users running Outlook 2011 for OS X.
There are some basic steps for rebuilding of the identity database, for the purpose of resolution of problems with the Outlook for Mac corruption. The identity database is comprised of the contacts, tasks, email messages, calendar items as well as accounts settings. The location of the identity is the Users Folders data from Microsoft. The Microsoft Database Utility mode is used for the rebuilding of the database from the damaged stage. Before the rebuilding is done by the Database Utility Mode, a backup copy is created and kept in a specified location, before the Outlook 2011 Mac repair is done.
I'm having problems with Outlook 2011 on a Mac running Lion. When I add the Exchange Account Outlook will start to download all my email and then stop, prompting me to enter my password again. The message is: Ther server for account 'joe.bloggs@microsoft.com' returned the error 'Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password'. Your username/password or secutiry settings may be incorrect. I have tried it with proxy settings on/off/automatic all with the same issue. The Mac connects to our wireless fine with a certificate. We use Exchange 2010, Windows 2008 Server and everything works fantastically on our PCs! I have seen a few references to this on the web but to no avail. If you don't have this set already, make sure that in the Preferences under Account that you have chosen under Method to use user name and password and then put those in the fields provided.

Oh Yes, We Get to Use Commandlets! I started upgrading some of the machines around the office to the new version of Office for Mac — the Office:Mac 2011 version. I have to admit it is really pretty nice except for a few things and I wasn’t complaining until the users started taking their laptops out of the office. If the problem is resolved, proceed to access Outlook 2011 for Mac but if the problem still persists, proceed to create a new Identity to further resolve the issue. This step is applicable when you have created two different identities on the same system.
The thing you really want to use is Kerberos, but OS X has always had some issues with that and it seems that MS Outlook 2011 has just exacerbated it. I started out with Kerberos as the Method, but kept running into issues with authenticating and staying connected. Since I switched to using username and password, my issues along that line have disappeared.

Hi, I am using outlook 2011 for Mac. I am sitting in my vendor's place which is having an NTLM proxy server. I am unable to connect to my organisation's exchange server through outlook 2011 for Mac.

Please note that if have a direct internet connection then it works fine. Problem is only when im sitting behind a corporate proxy server (outside my organisation) I suspect outlook 2011 is not inheriting the proxy settings which are in the system proxy settings.
