Since this is a new installation of Office I'd suggest that you first do the following: • Confirm that Office is fully updated [14.2.4 is current] • Run Apple's Disk Utility to repair disk permissions • Restart the Mac I'm not sure what you're referring to here, though; 'Microsoft Word does not see Rich Text (the option to open in Rich Text is grayed out in the OPEN WITH dialogue box' Do you mean that files with an.rtf extension are dimmed in Word's File> Open dialog? If so, check the Enable dropdown which probably defaults to Word Documents. Open the dropdown & select All Readable Documents or All Office Documents or Rich Text Format Files. Either should make the.rtf file selectable. If the statement means something else, please clarify specifically where & how this is being seen & the exact wording involved. Based on other reports I've seen recently, it appears that Apple may have made a change to the manner in which Mail handles attachments -- at least in Lion & Mountain Lion. I'm not using either, so I cannot verify but I have not experienced it here using Mal 4.6 in Snow Leopard.
